Another milestone for Oliver as he graduated from Kindergarten on 22 November, which coincided with his birthday six years ago. Standing at 1.2m and 18kg, this boy has grown from his birth weight of 2.54 kg. We are proud of you!

Pirate ship
We had a 'pirate ship' meal at Swensen and brought back the ship. There goes another new creation by Oliver.
Notice the details that go into it? A passenger deck to board the ship.

Oliver sense of direction
At the junction, Oliver said 'turn left to go garden' when we are heading straight to forum galleria for piano lesson. He said he can recognised the tree.

Primary school registration
I have never imagine how stressful can the primary school registration process get, until I went through it myself.
We applied as parent volunteer and completed the mandatory 40 hours of service. Then we hope for the best that the take up rate for 2012 primary school registration would be the same as last year, where parent volunteers beyond two km have a chance to get in.
On the first day of registration for phase 2b3, the school shared that they had more parent volunteers than the places available. On the last day and even before the result was out, Boon Heng heard from his source that there 19 applicants applying for 11 places. Our heart sank. Now, it shall depend on Oliver luck.
Come the ballot day, we both took leave to witness the process. We were briefed by the Principal on the process . First time in history, he said, parent volunteer staying beyond two km had to ballot, and he explained, prior to the balloting, that the non-selected ones were be placed on waiting list. We listened intensely as we imagined ourselves staying behind later to put our name in the list.
Each child was allocated a ball with unique number and Oliver's no is 18. Second last in list. Systematically, all the balls were individually shown to the parents and put into the spinner. Imagine drawing toto, it is almost the same. The spinning started, and I felt my heart beating faster as the number of chance of getting in narrowed. It was like watching a slow motion film and you have the urge to fast forward it. Nine balls had been drawn and left with top 3 'prizes'. 3rd's down , then '18' was called out. Damn it, it was such a relief and unnecessarily stressful process. We got the second prize. When the last ball was announced, My mind was already somewhere else. We are really lucky, and thanks go to all who prayed for us! Hooray, I can plan now to prepare the change in our life.

Running out of patience
Is it just me being very short temper or Oliver is testing our boundary? For the past two weeks, I seemed to be scolding Oliver almost every day if not every other day. I just cant hold back my anger and I really hate disciplining Oliver so often. Patience .... I wish I can have more of it.

Kids home alone for the first time
20 min, we left our kids at home to do some errands. We talk to Oliver to look out for Heidi and tried to assure Heidi we would be back very soon. I even passed Heidi the Hello Kitty plush in case she cried for us. After repeating to Oliver things to look out for, and whether he is okay. He just said good bye.

Punishment at school
Playful Oliver kept knocking others head with his. Teacher Bernice spoke to him about the danger but as kid, he had short memory span and continued to knock others.
Punishment- stood in Ms Tan office after dinner and was still there when we fetch Oliver from school.

Taste of Hokkaido on Boon Heng Birthday
We had a 9-course Japanese Wagyu beef set at M Hotel Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant. The sushi is fresh and firm, but the beef is tough and does not live up to my expectation. It is quite good value for money with the Groupon discount and paying only about $50 per person, which otherwise cost about $150, an overly inflated price.
Wafu Salad (Mixed Salad with Seaweed in Vinegar Sauce),
Homemade Pitan Tofu
Sashimi (7 pieces)
Nama Sake Mentai Yaki (Grilled Fresh Salmon with Spicy Cod Roe Sauce)
Wagyu Tenderloin Beef with Mixed Mushroom
Hokkaido Beni Shake Ikura
Chawanmushi (Steamed Custard Egg with Hokkaido Red Salmon Roe)
Wakame Soba (Hot Japanese Seaweed Soba)
Signature Hokkaido Maki (Sushi Roll with Deep-Fried Seafood Wrapped in Seaweed Top with Flying Fish Roe)
Ice Cream (Choice of Mango or Mocha)
