M&M's orange t-shirt

Laura bought this orange t-shirt for Oliver a while back when he was still small. A few months back he started wearing it as he could fit into it. Since then he has been asking for his favourite M&M's t-shirt after his shower everyday.

The only way to make him wear any other shirt is to tell him that it is being washed, which is usually the case. Anyway, he only wears a few shirts now, the doggy one, the cookie monster one, and sometimes another monster one... that's about it. All of which were from Vera and Vivien.

Oliver & Heidi

I have found out one way to train Heidi to drink from bottle is simply by passing her one when Oliver is drinking.

zOO OUT

Second time back to the Zoo again. Oliver took the boat ride and he loves it. Read more

Bye bye hair

Farewell to Oliver's long hair (this is probably what Boon Heng will say)... oh please, Boon Heng, Oliver's hair will grow again

Shania & Shanice

There's a pair of twin in Oliver's class. They are about a month older than Oliver but they both seem to be able to talk quite articulately,a nd whenever they see me will say "Oliver's daddy", unlike Oliver who still talk like a baby. I can never recognise or remember who is who, even though the twin mum's had explained to me before that one is quieter, one has single eyelid etc...

So recently I asked Oliver if he likes Shania or Shanice (sometimes I would ask Shanice or Shania). Oliver would say he don't want Shanana (Shania) but he want Shanice.

Pee pee

The school seems to be mass toilet training a lot of them at the same time, bless them. We know of Nate and Jiajun as well.

Now Oliver can tell us that he wants to pee pee. A couple of times, when without his diaper, he forgets or chose not to, so I've to mop the floor and wash his shorts. He still doesn't want to tell us he needs to pass motion. Perhaps he's still not comfortable doing so.

A few times when outside or even at home, I have to bring him to the toilet. Sometimes it is successful, especially when there's a short urinal meant for kids (at the zoo) or when there's a squat toilet bowl (at Tanjong Pagar MRT, although Oliver slipped outside the toilet as it was just moped).

But sometimes it is a disaster, and he'll wet his shorts. Last Sunday at Hans, the toilet was all meant for adults. I had to lead Oliver to a tree outside Hans and pee there. But as it was about to end, his urine trickled on his short and it got all wet. Later at tthe river, another toliet meant for adults. This time I decided to carry him to save me the hassle, although I know that that shouldn't be the way as he eventually will need to learn how to do it properly.

Scar

The injury on Oliver's head seems to leave a permanent scar on his scalp. The glue-like substance certainly took a long time to come off, and with it came many strains of hair as well.

And sometimes when Heidi grabs Oliver's hair, a few more strains would drop off, although not necessarily from the same spot. We wonder if that has got anything to do with the injury, or is it just normal hair loss.

Sophia even cut of more hair while Oliver was sleeping to remove some of the remaining dried glue. Now there is a patch slightly smaller than a 5-cents coin where it is barren and no hair grow from it. Luckily Oliver still has lots of hair now to cover it up.

On his own

Since the outbreak of H1N1, the school has disallowed parents to enter the premises when fetching their kids to and from school, except for the infant section.

One good thing to come out from this is that Oliver somehow adapted very quickly to walking into his class on his own without too much fuss. He only took a couple of days where Rose or another teacher had to hold his hand and lead him in.

Now he even carries his own backpack, and on Mondays, has to lug a bigger bag with his blanket. Whereas in the past he might cling on to us, nowadays the sight of him, usually in his half-asleep state, walking gingerly on his own into the school is really cute.

Uncle Jean

Our neighbour Jean and Richard, who's just recently given birth to a boy, drive a Toyota Picnic.

Whenever Oliver alights from our car and sees their car, he would say Uncle Jean. We tried to correct him but he doesn't seems to be bothered about it.

Mickey Mouse Sunshade

Oliver doesn't look too good in shades. Maybe the shades from BHG is too cheapskate. In this picture he looked like a fat tai tai with bad hair.

Afraid of Height

According to Sophia, since a few months ago, Oliver developed a fear of height. From the lift landing to our corridor our neighbour's potted plants lined a short aisle, where you could look down from both sides.

Oliver would request us to hold his hands when the lift door opens and whenever he walked this stretch. Sophia thinks it is a fear of height.

I think maybe there's an invisible gnome near the plants.

Oliver says I want to pass urine

Many moons ago we and the school tried to toilet-train Oliver. It resulted in UTI. We thought the problem was that Oliver could hold his bladder but had a phobia of urinating in full view of onlookers.

This time round, the school had been training him for about 2-3 weeks already and was pretty successful. We were told that he could indicate to the teachers that he needed to go to the toilet.

The other day at home, I heard him said that he wanted to pass urine, and on Friday while we were strolling near Capital Tower, Sophia heard him said that he wanted to pee pee. Both times he urinated after his diaper was taken off. Yeah!
