Re-enactment of cockroach play

For the past two weeks, Oliver has been acting up over little things that don't end up the way he wanted it. When his favourite truck did not quite parked the way he wanted it to, he would sit down on the floor and screamed. When he wanted milk and couldn't wait for it to be ready, he would lie down on the kitchen floor and screamed.

This could be very well the onset of Terrible Two. Or could it be the anticipation of Baby sister joining the family and his growing need for attention from us. Couldn't quite fathom what is the cause, or probably a combination of both.

Although Boon Heng and I still find his cockroach play irresistably cute, but really they are getting a bit too much. He was acting up almost every hour. Gosh, I guess this is really just the beginning of the play. Patience.. is indeed a virtue that is hard to master.

Vocalising more words...

Oliver is vocalising more words now that he is 21 months old. Some of these words are:

Ma1ma4 (teochew way of calling grandma)
Duck (it is really cute to see how he imitates the jumping of a duck)
Star
Bus

Mommy (I did hear him call me when he is desperately looking for me...other than that..sorry, I have to wait longer)

More pictures from Labrador Park

Oliver and Eri's dad wore similar red and white stripes, Kate in blue Bubbles chasing after Oliver
Where's Oliver?

080808

Jia Jun

According to Delcare, this was the first time that the toddler/playgroup section was going on an outing with the rest of the kids.

So on the morning of 080808, a day before National Day, all the kids minus the infant section landed at the seafront of Labrador Park. Even the parents of some of the toddlers were mobilised to shepherd the toddlers to and fro the park.

I took the day off to accompany Oliver for the trip, as Sophia was really busy with the events at StarDuS.

The moment we hit the park, Oliver wondered off ahead of the pack, to the delight of a group of schoolgirls who took turns to take photos with him. Further away where we eventually settled down after playing on slides and bubbles and balls, I noticed that Oliver can be quite "solo" at times, wondering away on his own from the group.

(Sophia wonders if his short attention span and "non-conformist" behaviour may be a sign of things to come. But to me, I see a future leader in the making...)

At the moment, his best friends now seems to be Jia Jun and Kate.

A Clockwork Oliver

Oliver is a clockwork baby when it comes to drinking his milk. 7 out of 10 times, he will automatically point to the milk bottle at precisely 8.30pm to indicate that he wants his first night feed. At almost half past nine, the same thing happens.

Hair

Oliver hates to have his hair cut.

All don up for water play

Just the mention of swimming will get him really excited and it is quite a challenge to squeeze him into his now undersized bodysuit. Oliver takes to the water like a duck and doesn't seem to mind the cold at all.

Yvonne's 21 Birthday Celebration

Finally

It sure took a while but Oliver is showing signs of adapting to the toddler section.

Yesterday, after I brought him to wash his hands, which the teachers would ask us to do so prior to his breakfast, he ran to the tables where the other kids are on his own, not even looking at me or beckoning me to follow him or even clinging onto me like a koala bear which he normally does.

He sat with the kids and waited for Aunty (the cook) to roll out the breakfast trolley by banging on the table like the rest of the kids .

Today, Aunty again led him away from me and to his teacher without any fuss.

There is some good in conformity.
