Caring Kangaroo Newsletter

Hello! How was your week? Mine was filled with fun activities and I can't wait to fill you in on them! Are you ready? Here goes...

According to our theme, we talked about fire-fighters all week long and we couldn’t seem to get enough of it. We learnt fire-fighters not only help put out fires but they save animals up in trees too! We were also taught that in the case of a fire, we have to call 995 to get help from the
fire-fighters.

While at the station, fire-fighters rest, read and exercise but once they receive a call, they immediately put on their masks, coats and boots, and slide down the fireman pole to head off to put out the fire! That's really tough work, don't you think?

Oh yes, before I forget, we did role-play and took turns being firefighters as well as the victims of a fire. You bet we had lots of fun driving the fire-engine, spraying at the ‘fire’, and using our mattress cover to wrap ourselves so we can escape!

In phonics, we were taught the letter "j". Our new friend this week is Jumping Jim. We learnt how to write the letter and came up with words that start with "j", like, jigsaw, jeep,
jungle, junction, juggle, jam and jelly.

For craft, we did our very own Caring Kangaroo's fire-truck. We painted it red and Ms. Dee
helped draw the outside of the fire truck for us. We also did charcoal drawings, and mind, it was quite difficult. For messy play, we had our hands on mango pudding. We cooked it and it was really easy. You can buy the instant, powder mix from the supermarket with simple instructions on it. You know, we didn’t add sugar to our mango pudding and it still tasted very good!

I am sure that by now, you would have heard all about our trip to West Coast Park and how we enjoyed ourselves. Although it was a hot day, we were not afraid as we were armed with water guns! With those, we pretended the park was on ‘fire’ and went around ‘putting out’ ‘fires’.
We, too, went in search of a fireman's pole and took turns sliding down it. You bet we were delighted to go down the pole just like a real fire-fighter! Sad to say, it’s time for me to say goodbye. Stay tuned for more updates next week! Till then, take good care and enjoy the long weekend ahead! :)

Hugs and kisses from your Caring Kangaroo
