Failed attempt with JSSL-Arsenal Football Club

After visiting the JSSL-Arsenal training ground at Kallang for two Sundays, we decided to let Oliver have a trial football lesson for kids under 5s. There were about 10 over kids close to his age of 3+, made up of mostly boys. A young girl caught my attention. She was probably around Oliver's age, but very independent. On the first Sunday which we went to recee the training ground, she was there wearing her own clothes, meaning she was trying out for the first time. She didn't seem too bothered being alone without her parents around, only a little bit lost and the coach had to guide her along, but she was able to understand instruction clearly. Last Sunday, she wore the Arsenal jersey and started practicising with the group. Today, she has fully adapted herself to her new training regime. Definitely my idol!

Oliver, on the other hand, did not break any new ground. We had, with a tinge of hope, that Oliver would enjoy the ball and submerged himself to the fun. Not quite at all. Oliver sticked to Boon Heng all the time, and refused to join 'in' the team. Mostly, he was in his own world, not listening to instructions and even ran off a few times while the coach was conducting the lessons. Boon Heng had to bring Oliver back to the ground, which exhausted Boon Heng when our initial intent was to exhaust Oliver's high energy level.

NOT ready, the coach said... How familiar is this word. We heard the same when we brought Oliver to MYC music school. Well, perhap Oliver's mommy is just being a little bit too enthusiatic for a socially conscious boy.
