Follow Me Hokkaido - Day Five (Part 2)

Once again, it was a pity that we stayed only one night at Shiretoko. This national park deserved more than just an overnight stay. As we travelled down southwest to Akan, we hit some mountainous roads, feel almost like we were in winter minus the freezing cold weather.

I couldn't take a picture of quaint looking Jun no Bany (local family restaurant) as it was raining outside. Serving only the freshest seafood, the owner is a local fisherman and their menus were usually "The catches of the day". The foods were i-chiban, but perhap the owner should do something about the piece of song which they kept playing at an unnecessary high volume.

Here's the inside of the restaurant. Full of characters.

Sadly and not knowing why, I did not take a lot of pictures here at the Notsuke peninsula. Must be the cold air or the morning cruise ride which made me sleepy. The Notsuke peninsula shaped like that of a shrimp's bent back. It was made up of fields and marshes and at 28 km in length, it is Japan's largest branching sandbank. In summer, many varieties of flowers would bloom, but we did not see any in spring. As we drove along the peninsula, the place looked quite deserted. Houses and boats were abandoned, obviously for years. It could have been a small fishing village years ago.
